Xiaomi has officially introduced Redmi 17C 5G, a budget smartphone that targets users who want 5G connectivity, a large display, a high-refresh-rate screen and a large battery at a lower price.
Redmi 17C 5G uses MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Users can also add storage through a microSD card. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also available.
Redmi 17C 5G Display and Camera
Redmi 17C 5G features a 6.9-inch IPS LCD with 1600 × 720 HD+ resolution. Screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, while peak brightness reaches 810 nits.
For photography, Redmi 17C 5G has a 50MP main camera on back. An 8MP camera sits on front inside a waterdrop notch.
6,000mAh Battery and 33W Charging
Battery capacity reaches 6,000mAh, giving Redmi 17C 5G a focus on battery life. Phone supports 33W wired fast charging.
Battery remains a major focus across Xiaomi’s Redmi range in 2026. Redmi 17, for example, uses a larger 7,500mAh battery and supports 45W Turbo Charging. Xiaomi says Redmi 17 can provide up to 91 hours of music playback, while 35 minutes of charging can provide a full day of use under company test conditions.
Redmi 17 also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing users to supply power to compatible devices.
5G Performance and Software
Dimensity 6300 gives Redmi 17C 5G support for 5G networks while targeting entry-level smartphone users. Chipset uses a 6nm process and pairs with 4GB RAM.
Phone runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Storage comes in 64GB and 128GB versions, with microSD support for users who need more space.
Build and Features
Redmi 17C 5G measures 8.1mm in thickness and offers IP64 protection against dust and water. Phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and headphone jack.
Xiaomi offers Redmi 17C 5G in black, brown with a vegan leather finish, and purple.
Redmi 17C 5G Price and Availability
Redmi 17C 5G is listed in Singapore at SGD 279, which is about $220. Xiaomi has not confirmed a launch date for every international market, but phone is expected to reach more markets in coming weeks.
For comparison, Redmi 17 targets a similar budget segment with a higher 7,500mAh battery, 45W charging and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. Redmi 17C 5G takes a different approach by combining a lower price with 5G, 120Hz display and a 50MP camera.
Xiaomi also plans to launch Redmi 17 in Nigeria on September 1, 2026, as part of its push in entry-level smartphone market. Focus on battery capacity, charging speed and daily-use features shows how Xiaomi is targeting students, young professionals and other users who spend long hours on smartphones.
Redmi 17C 5G adds another option to Xiaomi’s budget lineup, combining 5G connectivity, large display, 120Hz refresh rate, 50MP camera, 6,000mAh battery and 33W charging at a price near $220.
